Taxonomy: Turnix everetti Hartert, 1898, Waingapo, Sumba.
Usually considered a separate species or conspecific with T. worcesteri, but both taxa recently proposed as races of T. pyrrhothorax; distinguished from latter by plumage and size. In past, was considered race of T. sylvatica. Monotypic.
Distribution: Sumba (Lesser Sundas).
