Taxonomy: Hyloterpe sulfuriventer Walden, 1872, Minahassa, north Sulawesi.
Forms a superspecies with P. philippinensis and P. hypoxantha. Proposed race meridionalis (from Mt Lompobattang, in S Sulawesi) sightly paler below than birds elsewhere in range, but regarded as insufficiently distinct to warrant recognition. Monotypic.
Distribution: N, C, SE & far S Sulawesi.
