Monotypic.
Distribution: Breeds SE Kazakhstan (Kharkaralinsk, Tarbagatai, Dzungarian Ala Tau) and Tien Shan E to the Altai and NW & C China (E to Qilian Mts, in Qinghai), S to Tajikistan (Pamirs), NE Afghanistan and W Himalayas in NE Pakistan (Baluchistan), Kashmir (W Karakorum) and NW India (Himachal Pradesh); non-breeding C India (Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Bengal S to Maharashtra and N Andhra Pradesh).
