Taxonomy: Buceros exarhatus Temminck, 1823, Sulawesi.
Has been treated by some authors as conspecific with congeners. Two subspecies recognized.

Subspecies and Distribution:

  • exarhatus (Temminck, 1823) - N Sulawesi and Lembeh I.
  • sanfordi (Stresemann, 1932) - S Sulawesi and islands of Muna and Butung.
