Taxonomy: Dacelo fallax Schlegel, 1866, mountainous parts of Sulawesi.
Two subspecies recognized.
Subspecies and Distribution:
- sangirensis (A. B. Meyer & Wiglesworth, 1898) - Sangihe and Talaud Is.
- fallax (Schlegel, 1866) - Sulawesi, and offshore Lembeh I.
