Other common names: Celebes (Mountain) Drongo
Taxonomy: Dicruropsis montana Riley, 1919, Besoa, Taewo Mountains, north-central Sulawesi.
Formerly considered conspecific with D. hottentottus; the two may form a superspecies with D. menagei, D. sumatranus, D. densus, D. balicassius, D. bracteatus and D. megarhynchus. Differentiation of this small montane taxon may be the result of its retreat uphill in face of invasion by lowland race leucops of D. hottentottus, from which it differs completely; appears to be closely related to Halmahera race atrocaeruleus of D. bracteatus of neighbouring Moluccas, its possible origin.
