Taxonomy: Basilornis celebensis G. R. Gray, 1861, Menado, Makassar, Sulawesi.
May form a superspecies with B. galeatus and B. corythaix. Monotypic.
Distribution: Sulawesi, including islands of Lembeh, Muna and Buton.
