Taxonomy: Trichostoma [sic] celebense Strickland, 1849, Sulawesi.
Geographical variation partly clinal; proposed races connectens, from NC Sulawesi, and improbatum (of which sordidum is a synonym), from SE, considered to represent part of this cline, and therefore merged with rufofuscum. Four subspecies recognized.

Subspecies and Distribution:

  • celebense Strickland, 1849 - N Sulawesi (incliding islands of Manterawu, Bangka and Lembeh).
  • togianense (Voous, 1952) - Togian Is (N Sulawesi).
  • rufofuscum (Stresemann, 1931) - C & SE Sulawesi, including Butung I.
  • finschi Walden, 1876 - SW Sulawesi.
