Taxonomy: Macronus striaticeps Sharpe, 1877, Malamaui Islet, off Basilan, Philippines.
Original description of genus included two different spellings of name (, Macronous); current name determined by ICZN Principle of First Reviser (see page 78). This species is placed by some systematists in a monotypic genus, Minodoria. Proposed races cumingi (Samar and Leyte), boholensis (Bohol) and mearnsi (Mindanao) merged with mindanensis. Four subspecies recognized.

- mindanensis Steere, 1890 - Samar, Biliran, Leyte, Panaon, Bohol, Mindanao and islets of Balut, Cabo, Malanipa, Buad and Maripipi, in E & S Philippine Is.
- alcasidi duPont & Rabor, 1973 - Dinagat and Siargao, in E Philippines.
- striaticeps Sharpe, 1877 - Basilan and Malamaui (off W Mindanao).
- kettlewelli Guillemard, 1885 - Sulu Archipelago, in SW Philippines.
