Taxonomy: Chloronerpes callopterus Lawrence, 1862, Lion Hill, Canal Zone, Panama.
May form a superspecies with P. simplex, P. litae and P. leucolaemus, and all four often treated as conspecific. Monotypic.
Distribution: WC to E Panama: Veraguas, and Caribbean slope of Canal Zone to Darién.
