Proposed
races prasina and albicauda, from N slopes of SE New
Guinea, are synonymous with nominate. Three subspecies recognized.
Subspecies and Distribution:
- axillaris (Mayr, 1931) - W & WC New Guinea (Weyland Mts and Snow Mts).
- striativentris Salvadori, 1894 - mountains of EC & SE New Guinea.
- chrysocome (Mayr, 1931) - mountains of Huon Peninsula, in NE New Guinea.
