Taxonomy: Icterus laudabilis P. L. Sclater, 1871, St Lucia.
Formerly considered conspecific with I. oberi. Relationships uncertain; analysis of mitochondrial DNA indicates that it is not closest relative of I. bonana, although the two are separated geographically by only 27 km. Monotypic.
Distribution: St Lucia, in C Lesser Antilles.
