Spot-necked Babbler (Stachyris strialata) - HBW 12, p. 160

Other common names: Spotted Tree-babbler, Tickell’s Spotted Babbler

Taxonomy: Timalia strialata S. Müller, 1836, restricted to Padang Residencies, Sumatra.
Has been thought to form a superspecies with S. oglei or possibly to be conspecific. Geographical variation slight, despite number of races named. Birds of this species observed in N Myanmar have not been identified to level of race. Species name often spelt “striolata”, but there are no grounds for this emendation. Seven subspecies recognized.
