Taxonomy: Platalea pygmea Linnaeus, 1758, Surinam = eastern Asia.
Often placed in genus Calidris. Monotypic.
Distribution: Chukotskiy Peninsula S to N Kamchatka. Winters locally from SE India and Sri Lanka to Indochina and S China, and S to Singapore.
