Taxonomy: Acanthagenys
rufogularis Gould, 1838, New South Wales, Australia.
Genus
formerly merged with Anthochaera by some authors. Specimen
supposedly from an island in Torres Strait described as a
geographical race, parkeri; locality, however, considered
doubtful and specimen probably mislabelled. Monotypic.
Distribution: Australia mainly S of c. 19-20º S (only scattered records in far SW, in S Victoria and E of Great Divide).
