Distribution: Coasts and islands of NW Pacific, from Kamchatka and Sea of Okhotsk S to NE Korea, Kuril Is, and N Japan (Hokkaido, N Honshu). In winter, pelagic and coastal, usually near breeding locations and somewhat farther S.
