Other common names: Plum-crowned Parrot (tumultuosus); White-capped/White-headed Parrot (seniloides)
Taxonomy: Psittacus tumultuosus Tschudi, 1844, Peru.
Race seniloides often regarded as a separate species, but differences between them slight and superficial, appearing more appropriate for subspecific separation. Two subspecies recognized.
Subspecies and Distribution:
- seniloides (Massena & Souancé, 1854) - W Venezuela through CE Colombia and N Ecuador to NW Peru.
- tumultuosus (Tschudi, 1844) - C & S Peru and mountains of Bolivia E to Santa Cruz.
