Taxonomy: Clytorhynchus pachycephaloides Elliot, 1870, New Caledonia.
Two subspecies recognized.
Subspecies and Distribution:
- grisescens Sharpe, 1899 - Banks Is and Vanuatu from Torres Is (Hiu) S to Émaé, Éfaté and Erromango.
- pachycephaloides Elliot, 1870 - New Caledonia (Grande Terre).
