Taxonomy: Pelecanoides georgica Murphy and Harper, 1916, Cumberland Bay, South Georgia.
Forms superspecies with P. garnotii and P. magellani. Monotypic.
Distribution: Circumpolar, with breeding at South Georgia, islands of S Indian Ocean and off S New Zealand.
