Taxonomy: Larus (Adelarus) hemprichii Bruch, 1853, Red Sea.
Morphometrically linked with L. modestus and L. leucophthalmus. Monotypic.
Distribution: Red Sea and Gulf of Aden, and Persian Gulf and Gulf of Oman, E to S Pakistan, and S to N Kenya (Kiunga Is).
