Taxonomy: Todirostrum fumifrons Hartlaub, 1853, Bahia, Brazil.
Formerly placed in genus Todirostrum. Forms a superspecies with P. latirostris. Two subspecies recognized.
Subspecies and Distribution:
- penardi (Hellmayr, 1905) - Surinam and French Guiana.
- fumifrons (Hartlaub, 1853) - lower Amazonian & NE Brazil (C Pará E to S Maranhão and NE Mato Grosso, and coastal region from Paraíba S to N Bahia).
