Taxonomy: Glareola lactea Temminck, 1820, Bengal.
Sometimes placed in Galachrysia with G. cinerea and G. nuchalis. Forms superspecies with G. cinerea. Monotypic.

Distribution: E Afghanistan and Pakistan, through India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh to SC China (S Yunnan), and thence S & SE through Myanmar to Thailand, Laos and Cambodia.
