Taxonomy: Heteroprion belcheri Mathews, 1912, Geelong, Victoria.
Might hybridize with P. desolata at Kerguelen, though evidence largely circumstantial, based mainly on overlap in bill structure. Monotypic.
Distribution: Noir I (off S Chile), Falkland Is; Crozet, Kerguelen Is.
