Java.
Sometimes
considered to form a superspecies with D. cruentatum. Hybrid
between present species and D. cruentatum recorded in E Borneo
(Samarinda). Race stresemanni only weakly differentiated from
nominate. Two subspecies recognized.
Subspecies and Distribution:
- trochileum (Sparrman, 1789) - Bangka, S Sumatra (Lampung), S & E Borneo, Java (including Madura), Karimunjawa Is and Bawean (both N of Java), Kangean Is and Bali.
- stresemanni Rensch, 1928 - Lombok.
