Taxonomy: Amblyospyza [sic] concolor Bocage, 1888, São João dos Angolares, São Tomé Island.
Recent genetic evidence indicates close relationship to Serinus rufobrunneus, suggesting that, pending review of entire genus, this species may be better placed in Serinus. Monotypic.
