Other common names: Hoogerwerf's/Sumatran Pheasant (hoogerwerfi)
Taxonomy: Acomus inornatus Salvadori, 1879, Mount Singgalang, Padang, West Sumatra.
Has alternatively been placed either in genus Chalcocomus or in genus Houppifer. Race hoogerwerfi sometimes considered a distinct species, but very poorly known, and male remains undescribed; might not even merit subspecific status. Two subspecies recognized.
Subspecies and Distribution:
- hoogerwerfi (Chasen, 1939) - Aceh, N Sumatra.
- inornata (Salvadori, 1879) - mountains of S Sumatra, S to Mt Dempu.
