Babblers (Timaliidae)
Ruwenzori Hill-babbler (Pseudoalcippe atriceps) - HBW 12, p. 135
French: Pseudalcippe du Ruwenzori
German: Schwarzkopf-Buschdrossling
Spanish: Timalí del Ruwenzori
Taxonomy: Turdinus atriceps Sharpe, 1902, Ruwenzori Mountains, Uganda.
Genus possibly closely related to Sylvia, currently in family Sylviidae; has in the past been merged variously with Illadopsis and Alcippe. Species often treated as conspecific with P. abyssinica, and strongly similar in voice, but presence in Nigeria and Cameroon, in close proximity to W populations of latter, tends to indicate that the two are distinct. Monotypic.
Distribution: SE Nigeria, W & C Cameroon (but not Mt Cameroon), NE DRCongo, SW Uganda and Rwanda.
