Ovenbirds (Furnariidae)
Rusty-fronted Canastero (Asthenes ottonis) - HBW 8, p. 302
French: Synallaxe à front rouille
German: Rostgesichtcanastero
Spanish: Canastero Frentirrufo
Taxonomy: Siptornis Ottonis Berlepsch, 1901, Anta, 3500 m, near Cuzco, Peru.
Plumage similarities have suggested to some authors that this is the sister-species to A. pudibunda; others have proposed that the two form a superspecies with A. heterura, or that latter is a race of one or other of them. Monotypic.
Distribution: Andes of SC Peru (Huancavelica, Ayacucho, Apurímac, SW Cuzco).
