Taxonomy: Aramides axillaris Lawrence, 1863, Barranquilla, Colombia.
Genus sometimes merged into Eulabeornis. Monotypic.
Distribution: Coastal Mexico and Belize; Honduras to Panama; NW Colombia locally S to W Ecuador and NW Peru (unconfirmed), and E to Guyana (including Trinidad).
