Spanish: Buco Cuellirrojo
Taxonomy: Bucco rufus Spix, 1824, “in sylvis fl. Amazonum” = São Paulo de Olivença, westernmost north Brazil.
Two subspecies recognized.
Subspecies and Distribution:
- rufa (Spix, 1824) - S of Amazon from NE Peru to W Brazil (E to R Madeira) and S to E Bolivia and E Mato Grosso.
- brunnescens J. T. Zimmer, 1931 - S Amazon Basin E of R Madeira (N Brazil).
