Other common names: Rufous-chested Dotterel, Chilean/White/Winter Plover
Taxonomy: Charadrius modestus Lichtenstein, 1823, Montevideo, Uruguay.
Occasionally placed in genus Zonibyx. No subspecies recognized, although birds from Falkland Is have longer wings and tarsi. Monotypic.
Distribution: S South America in SC & S Chile and WC & S Argentina and Falkland Is. Winters N to N Chile and SE Brazil.
