Taxonomy: Astur Kienerii Geoffroy Saint Hilaire, 1835, Himalayas.
Two subspecies recognized.
Subspecies and Distribution:
- kienerii (Geoffroy Saint Hilaire, 1835) - NE India and Nepal; SW India (W Ghats) and Sri Lanka.
- formosus Stresemann, 1924 - Burma and Hainan through W, S & EC Indochina and Malay Peninsula to Greater Sundas, Bali, Philippines and Sulawesi.
