Taxonomy: Myrmothera guttata Vieillot, 1825, Cayenne.
Forms a superspecies with M. hauxwelli, but their relationship to other groups in the genus is uncertain. Monotypic.
Distribution: S Venezuela (Bolívar, Amazonas), the Guianas and NE Amazonian Brazil (from E of R Negro E to Amapá).
