Taxonomy:
Psittacus Rüppellii G. R. Gray, 1849, Nunez River, French Guinea; error = Damaraland.
Forms a superspecies with P. meyeri, P. cryptoxanthus and P. crassus, and possibly others. Monotypic.
Distribution: SW Angola and N & C Namibia.
