Taxonomy: Eudyptes schlegeli Finsch, 1876, Macquarie Island.
Sometimes considered subspecies of E. chrysolophus (see page 140); more often these two treated as superspecies. Monotypic.
Distribution: Macquarie I and adjacent islets.
