Taxonomy: Herpsilochmus roraimae Hellmayr, 1903, Mount Roraima, 3500 feet [c. 1060 m], Bolívar, Venezuela.
Relationships unclear; possibly closest to H. dorsimaculatus. Two subspecies recognized.
Subspecies and Distribution:
- kathleenae Phelps, Jr. & Dickerman, 1980 - tepuis region of SW Venezuela (W & S Bolívar, Amazonas) and adjacent Brazil (extreme N Amazonas).
- roraimae Hellmayr, 1903 - tepuis region of SE Venezuela (E Bolívar E of R Caroní), adjacent Brazil (extreme N Roraima) and WC Guyana.
