Taxonomy: Turdus inquietus Latham, 1801, New South Wales = Sydney, Australia.
Forms a superspecies with M. nana; previously treated as conspecific, but differs in plumage, bill structure, size and vocalizations. Monotypic.
Distribution: Australia: SW Western Australia (Wongan Hills E to Point Culver), and CE Queensland S to Victoria and S South Australia (extending W to E fringe of Simpson-Strzelecki Deserts, Murray-Mallee, Flinders Ranges and Eyre Peninsula).
