Taxonomy: Rallus fasciatus Raffles, 1822, Bengkulu, west Sumatra.
Monotypic.
Distribution: Lowlands from NE India (Cachar) and S Myanmar E to Philippines and S to Sumatra and Flores; spottily elsewhere through Greater and Lesser Sundas and Moluccas.
