Taxonomy: Pholidornis rubrifrons Sharpe and Ussher, 1872, Denkera, Ghana.
Thought to form a superspecies with P. woodhousei and P. jamesoni; sometimes treated as conspecific with latter or, less often, with both. Monotypic.
Distribution: Sierra Leone, SE Guinea, Liberia, S Ivory Coast and S Ghana.
