Taxonomy: Opaethus erythrolophus Vieillot, 1819, Angola.
Forms a superspecies with T. bannermani. Monotypic.
Distribution: W & C Angola from lower R Congo S to Chingoroi area, and E to at least Malanje and upper R Cuanza. Sympatric with T. schalowi in many areas.
