Taxonomy: Paradisea rubra Daudin, 1800, Waigeo, West Papuan Islands, New Guinea.
Genus name sometimes spelt Paradisea (see page 46). Has been suggested to form a superspecies with P. minor, P. apoda, P. raggiana and P. decora. Monotypic.
Distribution: West Papuan Is (Waigeo, Gemien, Saonek and Batanta; presumably also Gam), off NW New Guinea.
