Taxonomy: Petrocincla semirufa Rüppell, 1840, Abyssinia.
Three subspecies recognized.
Subspecies and Distribution:
- semirufa (Rüppell, 1840) - W Eritrea and S & W Ethiopia S to SE Sudan and N Kenya.
- donaldsoni Sharpe, 1895 - E Ethiopia and adjacent NW Somalia.
- intercedens (Cabanis, 1878) - C & SE Kenya and N Tanzania.
