Taxonomy: Pterodroma pycrofti Falla, 1933, Taranga, Hen Island, New Zealand.
Sometimes placed in P. longirostris. Forms part of assemblage referred to as subgenus Cookilaria. May form superspecies with P. longirostris, P. leucoptera and (?) P. hypoleuca. Monotypic.

Distribution: NE North I, New Zealand.
