Taxonomy: Certhia asiatica Latham, 1790, Gurgaon, Haryana, north India.
Genus often subsumed in Nectarinia. Has sometimes been considered to be part of a superspecies that also includes C. bouvieri, C. osea, C. oustaleti and C. talatala. Three subspecies recognized.

Subspecies and Distribution:

  • brevirostris (Blanford, 1873) - E Arabian Peninsula (N United Arab Emirates, N & C Oman), and SE Iran, E Afghanistan, Pakistan and W India (W Rajasthan and W Gujarat).
  • asiaticus (Latham, 1790) - India (except W & E ), Nepal and Sri Lanka.
  • intermedius (Hume, 1870) - E India (Assam S to Orissa and N Andra Pradesh) and Bangladesh E to Myanmar, S China (S Yunnan) and Indochina.
