Taxonomy: Andigena laminirostris Gould, 1851, Quito, Ecuador.
Forms a superspecies with A. hypoglauca and A. cucullata. Monotypic.
Distribution: W Andes from SW Colombia (Patia Canyon, in Nariño) S to S Ecuador (S possibly as far as R Chanchan).
