Taxonomy: Cypselus unicolor Jardine, 1830, Madeira.
Forms superspecies with A. apus and A. niansae; has been considered conspecific with both, and also with A. barbatus. In past, considered conspecific with A. alexandri. Schoutedenapus myoptilus poensis formerly treated as race of present species. Monotypic.
Distribution: Canary Is and Madeira; possibly breeds in Morocco.
