Taxonomy: Puffinus creatopus Coues, 1864, San Nicolas Island, California.
Sometimes considered conspecific with P. carneipes, and may be merely pale phase at end of W E cline; these two may form superspecies with P. gravis. Monotypic.
Distribution: Juan Fernández Is, breeding on Robinson Crusoe I (formerly Más a Tierra I), Santa Clara I and Morro Viñilla; Mocha I (off WC Chile).
