Taxonomy: Macropygia browni P. L. Sclater, 1877, Duke of York Island.
Genus probably closest to Macropygia, which it resembles in shape and colour pattern of outer rectrices. Similar plumage patterns of present species and R. reinwardtii suggest they are quite closely related. Monotypic.
Distribution: Admiralty Is and Bismarck Archipelago.
