Taxonomy: Hierax erythrogenys Vigors, 1831, near Manila.
Often erroneously spelt erythrogonys. Two subspecies recognized.
Subspecies and Distribution:
- erythrogenys (Vigors, 1831) - Luzon, Mindoro, Negros and Bohol (Philippines).
- meridionalis Ogilvie Grant, 1897 - Samar, Leyte and Cebu to Mindanao (Philippines).
