Cotingas (Cotingidae)
Peruvian Plantcutter (Phytotoma raimondii) - HBW 9, p. 73
French: Rara du Pérou
German: Graubrust-Pflanzenmäher
Spanish: Cortarramas Peruano
Taxonomy: Phytotoma raimondii Taczanowski, 1883, Tumbes, Peru.
Genus formerly treated as constituting a separate family of uncertain affinities or, sometimes, as a subfamily within Tyrannidae; more recent genetic data, however, indicate close relationship, possibly as sister-group, to a cotingid clade formed by the genera Ampelion, Doliornis and Zaratornis. Forms superspecies with P. rutila. Monotypic.
Distribution: Coastal NW Peru (Tumbes very locally S to La Libertad).
